A last-minute call from entertainment coordinator Carol Chaney began Shazam's stint at the Howard County Fair. Another performer had backed out, and Peter had been recommended by a friend in the Fair circuit. Performing basically his normal birthday party show across several days at the fair, Peter enjoyed the stage atmosphere, but in a relaxed outdoor environment.

He was pleased when the Fair was happy with his performances, and asked him back for the next year, but with more shows.
